Hugaloo, a soft lilac owl-shaped friend, sitting on a bedside table in a child's room. Its small round window shows Grandma.

Close to family. Far from the internet.

Hugaloo is a little friend that brings your child the voices, stories and photos of the people who love them. Nothing else gets in.

Five little things it does

Kids want Grandma. Not the whole internet.

How it works

  1. Family record on their phones.

  2. Hugaloo glows. Something is waiting.

  3. Your child listens, then answers.

Why I'm making this

I'm Bruna, a mom in Ottawa. I wanted my kids to feel close to the people who love them without handing them a screen full of everything else. I couldn't find it, so I'm building it.

Good questions

Is Hugaloo a real product yet?

Not yet. We are designing it now, and the pictures on this page are concept images, not photos of a finished product. Joining the list tells us families want it.

Does it use Wi-Fi?

Yes, only to bring in what your family sends through the family app. There is no browser, no app store and no way to go online from Hugaloo. The camera has no Wi-Fi at all.

What ages is it for?

About 4 to 10.

Who can send things to my child?

Only the people you add to your child's family tree in the family app.

How much will it cost?

The price is not set yet. People on the list will hear first.
